- Update: Cheerleader! by Morgan Smith was set to play at the Roxy Theatre, January 15 – 25 (previews January 13 and 14), however, I don’t have an update after the fire this morning ravaged the building. I’ll stay tuned for updates on the show and meanwhile my thoughts are with the cast & crew of Cheerleader! and Theatre Network, as well as the entire Edmonton theatre community. The Roxy was much more than a building – it was one of the homes, gathering places, and sources of inspiration for our community.
- APN’s playwriting competition is open and accepting submissions until March 1.
- Nuit Blanche Edmonton is accepting calls from all types of artists to do independent projects for the 2015 event. Artist portfolios are due January 19 and independent project proposals must be submitted by March 16.
- It’s that time of year again! The Edmonton International Fringe Festival is accepting design illustrations for fringe 2015: SupercaliFRINGEilistic until January 30. More details on their website.
- SkirtsAfire HerArts Festival released a sneak-peak into this year’s festival, March 5 – 8.
- Walterdale Playhouse has announced that its next Artistic Director will be Anne Marie Szucs. Congratulations Anne Marie!
- Freewill Shakespeare Festival sent out their January newsletter – lots going on for them! They’ve got their Blow the Roof Off (Jan. 17) and Brunch of Love (Feb. 8) coming up and are hiring a Development Manager. Check out their newsletter.
