The Superhero Who Loved Me by Chris Craddock

Remaining shows: August 22, 25 – 27 at Venue#28: The Playhouse (10033 80 Avenue)

An interview with Wayne Paquette.

Describe your show in one sentence.

A Queer, post-invasion Superhero love story.

Okay, now that we’re intrigued… what’s the longer description of your show?

Two old girlfriends reconnect after an alien invasion ravages earth. One is a divorcee putting her life back together; the other is one of Earth’s Most Powerful Heroes. A new Queer Superhero love story by one of Edmonton’s most celebrated playwrights, Chris Craddock.

What makes these two women the perfect duo to defend earth in an alien?

Nothing, not Aliens nor the American military, can penetrate the force field of their love and devotion to one another.

Your show’s description includes the phrase “the heroic effort it takes to stay in love” – can you describe a bit more how this show explores that theme?

Long-term relationships take effort, commitment, and an understanding that people change and grow. So when one of them is taking on an alien armada and the other is home with a baby, how do you find common ground?

Anything else you want audiences to know about the show?

Although its setting is very akin to a graphic novel, the core of this piece is a love story between two women who love each other desperately and who find one another amidst chaos and destruction. Ain’t love super?
