An interview with Andrea House.

Describe your show in one sentence.

Everyone is chasing someone.

Okay, now that we’re intrigued… what’s the longer description of your show?

“Chasing Willie Nelson” seamlessly weaves jazz and country, love found and love lost, into a musical dream you won’t forget. This multimedia, storytelling concert features a 5 piece band and Sterling Award winning actors: Andrea House; Dana Andersen and Mat Busby. The band, featuring Chris Andrew, Harley Symington, Bob Blair, Rubim de Toledo and Duke Paetz, finds inspiration and love at the heart of some of Willie Nelson’s favourite songs.

How did the idea for Chasing Willie Nelson come about? What is so inspiring about Willie Nelson’s story?

From a humble beginning in Abbott, Texas, Willie grew to be one of the most recognized and beloved songwriters of all time. It’s no secret that Willie Nelson’s life has been filled with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. He performed for presidents, starred in Hollywood films, and made a comeback after owing the IRS millions. Yet more than that, he still inspires generations of songwriters to pick up a guitar and find three chords and the truth. How is the music (performed by

How is the music (performed by a crack team of Alberta-based performers) integrated with the story in Chasing Willie Nelson?

Performed in the style of the Vinyl Cafe, the music sets the tone for the dialogue happening between Andrea, who is playing herself as a songwriter, and Mat, who plays Billy Nelson, Willie’s first son. Andrea keeps falling asleep and waking up to two gorgeous cowboys and a 5 piece band! Who wouldn’t want to dream that?

Anything else you want audiences to know about the show?

I’d like people to know that this is, by far, the best band I have ever worked with! We play a mix of country swing, jazz and folk. It’s not a straight up country show, by any means. And not only will people find out who I have been chasing my whole musical life, but they will be surprised to find out that Willie was chasing someone too.
