Opening this week:

  • Catalyst Theatre’s latest show hits Edmonton’s stages this week! Fortune Falls plays at the Citadel Theatre January 17 – February 5.
  • Sharr White’s Annapurna is produced by Shadow Theatre and runs at the Varscona January 18 – February 5.
  • Clinton Carew is back with a new musical: Star Killing Machine, playing at the Backstage Theatre January 17 – 29.
  • The Citadel Theatre is a busy place to be this month. In addition to Fortune Falls, they’ve also got Disgraced running on their stages. Previews for Disgraced start January 21. The show runs until February 12.

Closing this week:

  • Peter Fechter: 59 Minutes by Jordan Tannahill, produced by Cardiac Theatre, plays at the PCL Studio Theatre until January 22.

New beginnings

  • Congratulations to Bethany Hughes, Walterdale Theatre’s new Artistic Director for the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 seasons!
  • We’re less than a month away from Chinook Series! Check out the line up on their website and get ready for the festival, which runs February 9 – 19.
  • Submit your nomination for The Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts award before January 28!

  • It’s hard to believe it’s already been two years since The Roxy burnt down.

  • Canadians donated $133 million last year, just through CanadaHelps alone. That’s up nearly 25% from 2015. Wow! I am so proud to live in this country.
