  • Opening this week:
    • The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time officially opens at the Citadel Theatre September 22 (previews started Sept. 17 and run until Sept. 21)
    • The Moon at Midnight – a dance & theatre piece by Amber Borotsik – runs September 23 & 24. The Moon at Midnight is presented by the Brian Webb Dance Company as part of the Prairie Dance Circuit.
  • Workshop West announced last week that the Black Arts Matter (BAM!) Festival will be presented as part of Canoe 2017. Their call for submissions is open until October 14.
  • Punctuate! Theatre announced they will be performing Bone Wars by Matthew Mackenzie April 20 – 29, 2017.
  • Theatre Network also announced their 42nd season, which will again take place at The Roxy on Gateway. This year’s season features:
    • Tornado Magnet by Darrin Hagen November 8 – 27
    • Bust by Matthew Mackenzie February 7 – 26
    • Irma Voth by Chris Craddock based on the novel by Miriam Toews April 28 – May 7
    • and of course, NextFest 2017!
    • This year’s Roxy Performance Series will include:
  • The Edmonton Clown Festival is coming up September 29 – October 2!
  • Firefly Theatre & Circus’ upcoming fundraiser on October 2 – High Tea, an elevated fundraiser – sounds fun!
  • Speaking of fundraisers… SkirtOberfest 2016, a fundraiser in support of SkirtsAfire herArts Festival, returns October 22. I’m on the board of SkirtsAfire and help organize our annual fall fundraiser. This year we’re doing a Bavarian theme, with sweet & savoury pretzels from Zwick’s Pretzels and a beer tasting from Situation Brewery! Tickets are $30 in advance, $40 at the door – we’ve sold out two years in a row, so be sure to get your tickets early!
