Describe your show in five words.

An improvised childhood detective duo

Okay, now that we’re intrigued… what’s the longer description?

The Adventures of Chucky and Reggie is a brand new improvised adventure from two of Grindstone’s funniest females. With Reggie’s smarts and Chucky’s blatant disregard for authority, each night they unravel a brand new mysterious mystery before it’s their bedtime! Rachel Kent (11 O’clock Number, Best Picture) and Mhairi Munro (11 O’clock Number) star as two eleven year old boys in the town of Clarkdale as they uncover the dark underbelly of the seemingly sunny town. Since the show is improvised, the audience will provide the title of the mystery along with a variety of other inspirations.

Tell us about the characters in your show, Chucky and Reggie.

Chucky is 11 years old. He likes to solve mysteries. He’s adventurous, he’s goes with his gut and he is infatuated with Suzie Hamilton, the girl next door.

Reggie is Chucky’s best friend, he loves science, solving puzzles isn’t the best with physical activity but always comes to the rescue when Chucky gets them in trouble. Reggie can’t stand his arch nemesis Viktor Schneider, the neighborhood rich kid who wins all the science fairs.
Actresses Rachel Kent and Mhairi Munro star as 11-year old boys Chucky and Reggie – what does the gender-bending add to the show?

I think it adds another dimension of comedy and satire. Knowing that they are women playing young boys it allows the boys to say things they may not normally get away with otherwise. I’m sure people will interpret it in many different ways but in improv it’s pretty common to cross gender so it really came out of Mhairi and Rachel finding these characters organically through working in The 11 O’clock Number and we thought we’d give them their own show.

Being an improvised show, how does the audience contribute to The Adventures of Chucky and Reggie?

The audience will provide Chucky and Reggie with the title of the mystery along with a chore that they have to complete and an obsession that they have this episode.

Anything else you want audiences to know about the show?

These women are amazing improvisors and the show is gonna be really cute and funny and I can’t wait to see them knock it out of the park.
