Edmonton downstage | 06.27.2016

I”m writing this on Sunday, June 26 thinking about how summer days like today are the best days of the year and always remind me why I love living in Edmonton – our summer weather is perfect and there’s always an abundance of things to do and see. With that in mind, after this week’s Edmonton downstage, I’m going to take the rest of the summer off from this weekly feature. But don’t worry – you’ll be hearing lots from me leading up to Fringe!

  • Closing this week:
    • Jane Wagner’s The Search for Signs of  Intelligent Life in the Universe closes July 2 at the new Varscona Theatre.
  • Northern Light Theatre announced an exciting 2016-2017 season last week – here’s the announcement if you missed it.
  • According to a report released May 11, 2016, Statistics Canada estimates the direct economic impact of culture industries in 2014 was $61.7 billion. Read the full release to find out more!
  • Want to experience what it’s like to direct a show? Walterdale Theatre is looking for assistant directors for their 58th season.
  • The What It Is Podcast’s 105th episode, Summer of Love, is now ready for your listening pleasure. On it, they talk about the upcoming Walterdale production of Chess and Freewill Shakespeare Festival’s two productions this summer – Romeo & Juliet and Love’s Labour Lost.
