- Opening this week:
- Nothing will get you in the mood like the Hey Ladies! Holiday Special at The Roxy on Gateway for one night only – November 20. Knives! Beards! Music! Games! A bad Santa! What’s not to love?
- Closing this week:
- Ted Dykstra’s Evangeline at the Citadel Theatre closes November 22. By now, I’m sure you’ve seen or heard all the good reviews it’s gotten – if tickets are still available, you need to see it! They’ve added a matinee the morning of Tuesday, November 17, and I believe ticket prices are a little more affordable for that show than the regular performances.
- Wind in Her Sails by Elizabeth Bowering, both a theatre show and a fundraiser for Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), which the playwright suffers, runs at the PCL Studio in the ATB Arts Barns until November 21.
- This isn’t strictly theatre-related, but Mack Male has published his annual list of winter festivals & events for the 2015/2016 season.
- Kristen has been super busy and somehow found a few moments to write about all the shows she’s seen recently and her experience at the musical Once at the Jubilee.
- The What It Is podcast’s latest episode features the women behind The Good Women Dance Collective.
- Congrats to Sheldon Elter and Howie Miller, whose show Delmer and Marta, is going to be on APTN-TV.
- The Edmonton Galleria project (or specifically, the Edmonton Downtown Academic and Cultural Centre Foundation) is in front of city council again this week, bringing an MOU to them laying out the terms of the City’s support of the project.
- Paul Moulton, the Executive Director of the Edmonton Arts Council announced his retirement, effective December 31. Check out the EAC’s announcement to read about Paul’s work since begining his time with EAC in 2013.
- The November edition of Theatre Alberta’s Theatre Buzz is out, and includes an article about a recent initiative by the Alberta Partners for Arts and Culture – the group put together a bit of an ‘orientation’ package for Alberta’s MLA’s to help them discover all of the art people from across the various disciplines in this province are making.
- Speaking of newsletters, Freewill Shakespeare Festival’s November newsletter is out and includes information about the 2016 Festival Passes and VIP passes now on sale, as well as their February fundraiser – Brunch of Love.
