An interview with Chris Wilson.

Describe your show in five words.

It’s funny. You should come.

Okay, now that we’re intrigued… what’s the longer description?

It’s a genre-bending sketch comedy show. We actually give a great description of what you’re about to see right off the top of the show, so there’s no need to worry about reading a description now – we can save you that time. See ya there !

Here Lies Chris is your newest show – what is your process of creating a show?

With this show, we took a bunch of our favourite sketches no one has seen and then tied them together with a narrative. And that tied all that together with another narrative of peter and I performing a sketch comedy show. It’s the most ‘meta’ sketch show we’ve ever done

From what I know of your work, you seem to enjoy spoofing genres. Here Lies Chris seems to spoof the sci-fi genre – what tropes from this genre do you play off of?

Well, it really only uses time travel and alternative realities as the launching point. From there, it kind of derails into a whole BUNCH of genres. But there’s lots of parody of “time travel logic”

Chris dies at the beginning of Here Lies Chris – what are the challenges in performing the show when one-half of your duo is “dead”?

The major challenge is for the audience – as they have to watch Peter fumble around on stage alone, and he’s just not as charming

Anything else you want audiences to know about the show?

If you haven’t seen a Peter and Chris show before this is a good place to start . If you have, this one is very different in format and style

Bonus question: Any names you want to drop who have been involved in your show (Edmonton arts people or otherwise)?

Sam Mullins! We wrote some of these sketches with him!
