  • Opening this week
    • The Found Festival returns this year with more site-specific work than ever. The festival runs June 25 – 28 at various venues throughout the city.
    • The Freewill Shakespeare Festival is back in Hawrelak Park this year with As You Like It and Coriolanus. Previews are  June 23 and 24 and the festival officially opens June 25 and 26. The festival runs until July 19.
    • The Nuova Opera & Music Theatre Festival is still running this week. Remaining shows in the festival are:
      • Oklahoma! running at Festival Place June 26, 27, 28 and July 1
      • Dead Man Walking running at Festival place June 30, and July 2, 3, and 4.
  • Closing this week
    • Improvaganza 2015 – June 17 – 27, Rapid Fire Theatre’s annual showcase of Edmontonian, Canadian, and international improvisers.
    • Elope Musical Theatre’s Guys and Dollsat the Timms Centre June 18 – 27. Kristen got a chance to see the show last week – check out her thoughts on it.
  • The Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Awards are tonight! Congrats again to all the nominees and best of luck to all! If you’re not going to the event, follow the hashtag #sterlings2015 on Twitter to follow what’s happening.
  • Workshop West announced its first season under new Artistic Director, Vern Thiessen.
  • The Journal interviewed David Eggen, Minister of Arts and Culture (and Education).
  • The first I’ve heard about the Citadel Theatre’s facelift since they announced it two years ago. Unfortunately, the sentiment from city council is not the most positive – it’ll be interesting to see how the concept grows and evolves from here.
  • Catalyst’s Nevermore – The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe soundtrack is now available through Broadway Records and iTunes.
