- The summer festival season is officially here – NextFest runs June 4 – 14! Check out Theatre Network’s newsletter, which includes information on the Adopt-an-Artist program and details about how and where to find the festival this year, since the festival lost both The Artery and The Roxy. Of course, you can also check out the NextFest website as well. This year’s theatre portion of NextFest will be at Campus St. Jean and includes:

- Concrete Theatre’s Sprouts New Play Festival for Kids, including works by Marty Chan, Kristi Hansen, Paula Simons & Celia Taylor, runs June 6 – 7.

- Thou Art Here Theatre extended their run of Much Ado About Nothing, so you have three additional chances to see it – June 1, 2, and 3!
- Blarney Production’s A Steady Rain, running until June 7. I saw this show last week and loved it! The show also had positive comments from Kristen and Colin McLean – with more reviews to follow, I’m sure.
- Curious about site-specific work? In conjunction with Found Festival, Swallow-A-Bicycle is presenting a site-specific workshop and performance on June 28. The workshop/performance goes from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Dr Wilbert McIntyre (Gazebo) Park and costs $20. The application deadline is today! - The Sterling Awards nominees are being announced at The Next Act tonight at 4:30! The awards will be handed out June 22.
- This is a little late, but the What It Is podcast released Episode 71 – a listener lounge with Joe Nolan. The crew will be super busy over the next couple weeks as they produce the #nxtfstpodcast – download it directly from iTunes by searching “nxtfest podcast”
- Two festivals are looking for staff:
- SkirtsAfire herArts festival is looking for a Festival Manager, apply by June 19.
- The Freewill Shakespeare Festival is looking for a Managing Director, apply by June 5.
- L’Uni Théâtre has announced its 2015/2016 season, including a show by local poet Pierette Requier and a co-production with Opera Nuova.
- The Edmonton Galleria Project got some good news last week – the city agreed to move forward with the project and start putting together a memorandum of understanding.
