An interview with Sean Bedard.

Describe your show in five words.

HALF CUT FUN FOR EVERYONE

Okay, now that we’re intrigued… what’s the longer description?

17 Improvisors, 50 different short form improv games, spanning 6 shows. We give complete control to the audience over how the show is performed through the use of sound cues. You’ll laugh, You’ll Cry, You’ll Kiss 10 Bucks Goodbye

Your media photos are very stylistic – is there a particular theme or idea you’ll be centering Improv City around?

No, we do not have a specific theme. We cycle through improv games and have a host that transitions between games. Our hosts may narrate in a stylistic manner, but largely, our show does not have a distinct theme.

It sounds like audience participation is an important part of Go 4 Broke’s shows. Can you tell us a bit about your approach to audience participation or engagement?

We give out object that make sounds. A business bell, a bike horn, a cowbell, and a few balloons. Whenever the audience uses these sounds we alter our scenes according to whatever sound is made.

Anything else you want audiences to know about the show?

Every show will have different games in it. Including a game involving mousetraps. You’ll have to come to all of them to find out which one.

Bonus question: Any names you want to drop who have been involved in your show (Edmonton arts people or otherwise)?

Josh Languedoc is one of the improvisors in the show and will likely host a show as well. Josh wrote Case Study, which is also being presented at the Fringe in Venue 2, the Fringe Cabaret Lounge at 10330 84 Ave.

The 33rd Edmonton International Fringe is August 14 – 24. Get your tickets at tickets.fringetheatre.ca.
