Peter n’ Chris and the Mystery of the Murder Hotel

Describe your show in five words.
Spooky, Hilarious, Fast, Physical, PeterNChris

Okay, now that we’re intrigued… what’s the longer description?
Comedy duo Peter n’ Chris remount their hit play Peter n Chris and the Mystery of the Murder Motel- which sold out it’s entire run in the Edmonton Fringe in 2011.  Peter and Chris enter a motel where the Motel Manager is quite obviously the killer.  It’s a Hardy Boys send up and one hell of a fun time

Mystery of the Murder Hotel pokes fun at the murder/mystery genre – what’s your favorite convention of that genre to poke fun at?
We end up poking a lot of fun at the ‘mystery solving’ aspect of those genres.  Where you might solve the mystery almost immediately, but now you have to watch two idiots barely figure it out.  It’s always fun to add ‘stage gore’ to it as well, with red ribbons and knives. Stage killing is fun.

You’re currently creating a web series based off the Mystery of the Murder Hotel. What’s it like to adapt a live show for a web series format?
Well, a lot of the miming we do certainly doesn’t translate to film, so it’s been difficult to find new ways to add our stage chemistry into film.  It’s also hard to write something like “they go to a spooky motel’ and then know that down the road you’re going to have to find an actual spooky motel to shoot at, and can’t just rely on the audience to ‘imagine’ it.  Films are just…so much more expensive.

Anything else you want audiences to know about the show?
WELL! speaking of the web series, maybe they should know about that! They should watch this first episode and the TOTALLY donate to it. it would be awesome! watch this –> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ysoh-uJGfc.
and donate to this—> https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/hardly-men-the-peter-n-chris-web-series.  Cool!

Bonus question: Any names you want to drop who have been involved in your show (Edmonton arts people or otherwise)?
Nay! just us! but we love Rapid Fire Theatre. Go see it all. Especially Gossamer Obsessions with Amy Shostak and Paul Blinov.  I saw that show in Vacouver sketchfest and LOVED it.

The 33rd Edmonton International Fringe is August 14 – 24. I’ll be previewing shows up until the Fringe starts. Want your show to appear on After the House Lights? Email [email protected].
