I am absolutely obsessed with the What It Is Podcast. Recorded in Edmonton by theatre artists, the podcast is an intimate (and sometimes hilarious) look at what is happening in Edmonton’s arts community.

I just finished listening to the most recent episode, Episode 31: Support, where host Taylor Chadwick sits down with Northern Light Theatre’s Artistic Director Trevor Schmidt. Episode 31 is one of the most eloquent discussions of arts criticism I’ve heard in the time that I’ve been involved in Edmonton’s arts community. Their conversation about arts criticism is one that I think all of us, no matter how we are involved in the arts, need to listen to and figure out what it means for us.
